The Quality Assurance Office of Akaki Tsereteli State University has been established according to the Georgian law on higher education and the University regulation. The Quality Assurance Office implements measures for improving the quality of teaching and scientific-research activities, as well as increasing the qualification of university personnel, based on its own charter. The Office facilitates high level of teaching and research through introduction of the new methods of learning, reaching and evaluation. It also promotes adoption of the Bologna Process principles by international cooperation and integrating the University into general European educational space. Organizing authorization and accreditation processes are one of the main functions of the Quality Assurance Office.
ACCREDITATION Accreditation is a type of external evaluation mechanism, which determines the compatibility of an educational programme with standards. State funding goes only to accredited programmes. Accreditation is mandatory for doctoral programmes and regulated professions as well as Georgian language and Liberal Arts.
AUTHORISATION Authorisation is the instrument for external evaluation of compatibility of an institution with standards, certifying internal (self) evaluation. Authorisation is obligatory for all types of educational institutions in order to carry out educational activities and to issue an educational document approved by the state.
Mobility procedures regulate students’ free movement from one higher education institution to another. The student mobility procedures are administered by the Legal Entity of Public Law – National Centre for Educational Quality Enhancement (NCEQE) according to the Order N 10/N of the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia 4 February 2010, ,,on the approval of the procedure of movement between Higher Education Institutions’’. The mobility procedures are administered twice a year – at the end of fall and spring semesters within timelines approved by the NCEQE Director.
